Outdoor areas to lust after

Spending time outside is a portion of the Australian lifestyle, so it’s no wonder most of us want to create dreamy alfresco zones in which we love spending time with relatives members and friends.

If you’ve been tuning into our renovating series, 2 at Twelve, you’ll have been after my weekly snapshots about the best way to get the expression of my forever home and investment property in your own digs.

Otherwise, watch the movie above to catch up, then read on to learn how I designed the outdoor areas in these two properties.

The concept for my forever home is modern Australian design and as a result the styling exterior is minimal. It’s all about clean lines and easy colours.

Use clean and easy outdoor furniture to keep things understated. We utilized the Antigua range of furniture from GlobeWest; I love the simple shape of each piece along with the beautiful timber feature on the arms is just what we had to provide the room a little bit of warmth.

When choosing your furniture for your outside space, make a decision as to what you will get most use out of. Do you love to dine smart or lounge around? There are no rules: simply choose what suits your family best.

The trick to any outdoor space is tons of greenery. I love using pots in Hieta garden for my styling company, The Stables, therefore my own home was no exception. I particularly love the Jitt baskets; they are flexible, available in large sizes (I love outdoor pots!)

I used a collection of three in contrasting colors to take not only distance from the corner of my deck but also make attention and tie in with the external color scheme of the house.

Oversized pots and mirrors create a daring statement.

Think outside the box when it comes to styling your outdoor spaces. We have super high walls that were feeling somewhat empty so we used the gorgeous New York thinner mirror out of Urban Couture to fill out the distance. The scale is ideal, and the best part is the mirror reflects each the amazing views, which I will see not just when I’m outdoors but also inside.

Maintain the styling minimum when trying to accomplish a contemporary Australian look. Less is always more!

I utilized the gorgeous Lennox lanterns from Country Road; their simple shape is perfect to keep things minimal and they are also practical for day entertaining. I opt for indoor cushions in my outdoor spaces for additional comfort/luxe factor; I used the beautiful range from Eadie Lifestyle for a subtle pop of color.

Get the look: My investment property

The concept in my investment property is coastal. I wanted the room to feel comfortable and comfortable, so I depended heavily on feel within this space.

Outdoor furniture
Natural woven furniture would be the greatest in coastal living. The Bellano set of Furniture from La Forma was the ideal addition in this area; it’s not an overly large setting and the beautiful rope detail on the arms supplies a beautiful hint of texture.

A dreamy outdoor furniture setting to aspire to if you adore coastal living.

Wall dangling
One of my favorite suppliers for unique homewares is Harper and Wilde; all the one-off pieces are handmade in Sydney. I used the Driftwood and Cowrie wall hanging; the way the white pops against the black wall panelling is simply magical. Using these types of wall hangings is an awesome way to dress the walls in an outdoor space.

The icing on the cake to your outdoor lounge space should be some gorgeous cushions to make the room feel whole. I used a choice of cushions from Sea Tribe; it is the ultimate brand for coastal-boho homewares.

A hot tip when picking your cushions is never to use the same cushion double; I ensure each cushion differs. It makes a space feel much more relaxed and natural, which is key to a fantastic outdoor living room.
