I always look forward to August in Yokohama when Pikachus invade the Minato Mirai area. This year, the Pikachu Outbreak is from August 6th~12th. It’s my fourth year to take part in the events and shows of the Pikachu Festival. This year, there are 3 main shows which all happen during the evening. Japan is experiencing quite a heatwave so that would be my guess as to why they did away with the afternoon parades and shows. But there’s no need to worry! The Pokemon Go Fest has been a great addition to this festival. (Stay tuned for my next video sharing more of the Pikachu Outbreak and Pokemon Go Fest!)
Yokohama’s Official Visitors’ Guide:
I thoroughly enjoyed the Streets of Minato Mirai stage show right outside the Yokohama Museum of Art across from the MarkIs Shopping center. This show features incredible digital projection, LED costumes, dancing and of course, lots of adorable Pikachu decorated in colorful electric costumes as well. The 20 minute show is entertaining and fun to watch. There is ample seating, but I really wanted a front row seat so I joined the line to enter at 16:00 to get my seat for the 19:10 show. You get a free Pikachu picnic square sheet to sit on.
I hope you enjoy the raw live and unedited footage I shot from my seat with my Canon GX7 Mark II.
