Hi Will, I am experiencing the very same problem you just described in this YouTube video. When I typed in the command
md tmp, I received the message, this file already exit. So, I named it tmp2. Then I started entering the other commands. C:WINDOWS> copy c:windowssystem32configsystem, software, sam, security, and default. However, the only 2 files that did not take was Sam and Security. I double-checked the spelling and file folder procedure for Sam and Security and it was correct. Needless to say, my Windows XP Pro system still will not boot and this is a new Windows XP installation on a new SATA 1T. HDD. So, how do I correct the Sam and Security command error?
One other thing, I read that in order to get my OS to recognize the my new SATA drive one must press F6 during Setup.Could this possibly create the problem with the drive booting properly?
Thanks,
AnthonyK
